After a year and a half on the injured reserve list, Sacramento’s most innovative art-house blues, funk & soul band make their grand return to the stage at Harlow’s on June 12, 2024.

It’s a BLUES & BOURBON extravaganza when David Dot Hale returns with an All-Star band starring NorCal favorites Danny Sandoval, Dave Johnson, and AJ Joyce, featuring newcomers Joao Brandi, Anthony Occhipinti, Jim Wendt, Randi Dorman and special guest Larisa Bryski.

The lucky folks who caught Dot Hale’s bravura performance at the Sofia can attest that he is certainly a blues singer to be reckoned with, but he is also a fierce vocalist. The default setting of his voice is the rough-and-ready blues barker whose ultimate icon would probably be Howlin’ Wolf. Now add in a hearty splash of Jackie Gleason and imagine what that might be like, and you’re getting close to BLP. Authentic blues legitimacy plus a little “Pow! Right in the kisser!” The All-Stars weave a set together into a coherent whole that pays attention to tempo, feel, key, lyrics, and more.

Emcee skills, comic elements, and a female background vocal line practically turn an hour set into a one-act play, giving an evening with Dot Hale a nearly cabaret-like glow, one that may follow you home and even add new colors to the way you look at the blues.
