May 4 & 5

El Carnaval de Chavez is colorful, vibrant, and joyful family affair celebrating Cinco de Mayo Рwhich marks the victory of M̩xico in 1862 battle of Puebla.

Designed as an annual event held every year at Cesar Chavez Plaza in Downtown Sacramento, El Carnaval de Chavez is a celebration of pride and passion we share for our culture – ancient and modern. This year’s celebrations include LUCHA LIBRE, Live Bands Q-VO, Sacred Fire Band, Latin Party Crew and Ixchel Mariachi, Classic Cars, live Mural Painting by renowned artist Gabriel Romo (mural to be raffled!) Maquilli Aztec Dancers, a La Cosecha Foosball Tournament, and many other attractions.

Enjoy great Street Food, Margaritas and Mexican Beer (21+), Face Painting, Balloon Clowns, and more.

Please no outside food or drinks inside Carnaval. Thank you.
