Description
This is an introduction workshop. Rya or ‘knotted-pile carpet’ is a traditional Scandinavian wool rug using a Ghiordes knot to create a shag rug of 1-3 inches in height. This technique can be used to make rugs, tapestries, or textured shag fabrics for other projects. This workshop will cover weaving basics including setting up the weft on the loom, basic technique, and finishing off a project. We will also discuss the use of different fibers and their benefits for use in different projects.
