Description
In celebration of National Archives Month, over 20 archives and special collections libraries from throughout the region will showcase their rarely seen holdings during the 12th annual Sacramento Archives Crawl on Saturday, October 1, from 10 am to 4 pm, at four host locations in downtown Sacramento: the California State Archives, California State Library, Center for Sacramento History, and Sacramento Public Library (SPL). This free event gives the public a chance to see historic treasures from 21 Northern California institutions and participate in a scavenger hunt to win fabulous prizes and take behind-the-scenes tours. There are also two special events in the SPL Central Library Galleria: archival film clips will be screened by California Revealed throughout the day, and at 1 pm, local historian Mary Ellen Burns will take the audience on an interactive journey through Sacramentoโs agriculture, food, and drink history. Free bus transportation between host locations will be provided; free parking is available only at the Center for Sacramento History.
