“A Lot Can Happen in 50 Minutes”

    Our Therapy
We offer a variety of psychotherapy approaches to meet the needs of
    different individuals and different issues.

    Brief and Depth Therapy
By clearly assessing the issues of problems that bring you to therapy
and by setting clear goals and active plans, we can help you gain positive changes in a shorter time. With Solution Focused Therapy, for example, we help you to clearly define and envision the positive changes you want and to draw on your strengths and resources to bring these about. The Cognitive and Behavioral techniques that we integrate in our therapies can also help you to recognize and change patterns of thinking and reacting that cause or aggravate some of your difficulties. Deeper issues and patterns are usually recognized that you may want to explore now or later.

    Family Therapy

We work with your family to help you better deal with family conflicts, stress, communication problems and other issues common to families today. In using Couples Therapy we focus with you on making a positive shift in the way you listen and talk with each other. We help you move out of old patterns of blame and criticism toward positive ways of hearing out and working out your problems. We can also help your child in Child Therapy by assessing their difficulties and contributing factors as well as their strengths. We utilize many forms of play therapy with your child in combination with parenting and family
    sessions.

    We Are Utilizing
Newer Mind-Body Approaches Drawing on Both Sides
    of the Brain

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) EMDR was developed as a briefer treatment to relieve the symptoms of
post-traumatic stress. Clients are able to decrease the physical, emotional and cognitive impacts of trauma (childhood abuse, disasters, traumatic losses…) as well as the persisting negative self beliefs
from trauma, often within a limited number of sessions. EMDR is being utilized now to help with various symptoms and issues. Practicing clinicians: Jim, Joanne, and Paul.

    Neurobehavioral Programs for Pain
The Neurobehavioral Programs, used as an adjunct to medical treatment, teach you how to lower your chronic pain by developing specific mind-body skills. These skills also help you lower the stress and negative emotions that accompany these conditions. The materials for home practice help you learn how to lower your pain more readily and consistently.
    Practicing clinicians: Jim and Joanne.

Affect Centered Therapy and Affect Management Skills Training
This new approach teaches you the ability to identify, tolerate and decrease negative emotions and also increase positive emotions. Your own images are developed as the means to contain and regulate disturbing emotions to help further your healing and your progress with the changes you want. The skills learned are readily applied to situations in daily life. Affect Centered Therapy continues this process to resolve underlying issues and patterns. Practicing clinicians: Jim, Joanne, and Paul.
