“A Lot Can Happen in 50 Minutes”
Our Therapy
We offer a variety of psychotherapy approaches to meet the needs of
different individuals and different issues.Brief and Depth Therapy
By clearly assessing the issues of problems that bring you to therapy
and by setting clear goals and active plans, we can help you gain positive changes in a shorter time. With Solution Focused Therapy, for example, we help you to clearly define and envision the positive changes you want and to draw on your strengths and resources to bring these about. The Cognitive and Behavioral techniques that we integrate in our therapies can also help you to recognize and change patterns of thinking and reacting that cause or aggravate some of your difficulties. Deeper issues and patterns are usually recognized that you may want to explore now or later.Family Therapy
We work with your family to help you better deal with family conflicts, stress, communication problems and other issues common to families today. In using Couples Therapy we focus with you on making a positive shift in the way you listen and talk with each other. We help you move out of old patterns of blame and criticism toward positive ways of hearing out and working out your problems. We can also help your child in Child Therapy by assessing their difficulties and contributing factors as well as their strengths. We utilize many forms of play therapy with your child in combination with parenting and family
sessions.We Are Utilizing
Newer Mind-Body Approaches Drawing on Both Sides
of the BrainEye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) EMDR was developed as a briefer treatment to relieve the symptoms of
post-traumatic stress. Clients are able to decrease the physical, emotional and cognitive impacts of trauma (childhood abuse, disasters, traumatic losses…) as well as the persisting negative self beliefs
from trauma, often within a limited number of sessions. EMDR is being utilized now to help with various symptoms and issues. Practicing clinicians: Jim, Joanne, and Paul.Neurobehavioral Programs for Pain
The Neurobehavioral Programs, used as an adjunct to medical treatment, teach you how to lower your chronic pain by developing specific mind-body skills. These skills also help you lower the stress and negative emotions that accompany these conditions. The materials for home practice help you learn how to lower your pain more readily and consistently.
Practicing clinicians: Jim and Joanne.Affect Centered Therapy and Affect Management Skills Training
This new approach teaches you the ability to identify, tolerate and decrease negative emotions and also increase positive emotions. Your own images are developed as the means to contain and regulate disturbing emotions to help further your healing and your progress with the changes you want. The skills learned are readily applied to situations in daily life. Affect Centered Therapy continues this process to resolve underlying issues and patterns. Practicing clinicians: Jim, Joanne, and Paul. Our Therapists

Middle Way Health
Posted to March 27th, 2013
Middle Way Health is located across from McKinley Park and has been doing business in the community for 12 years. A center for healing, creativity and growth. We provide holistic healthcare for adults, couples and families, and offer customized programs that include: Psychotherapy, Hypnotherapy, Biofeedback, Shamanic Healing, Writing & Awareness Coaching, and Health & Wellness Education.
At Middle Way Health you have a wide range of therapies to choose from, including traditional and alternative modalities of talk therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, Embodied Mind therapies and Buddhist Psychotherapy. We are available for appointments in our Midtown Sacramento office, host community events, and offer workshops, classes, books and online resources.
Our full-spectrum healing model is influenced by eastern and western philosophies that emphasize awareness, balance and wholeness. To us, healing is the process of confronting and managing our fears and pains, and involves every aspect of the person. Integrating mind, body and spirit is an ongoing, growth-oriented process, and we have the tools to help you find the energy and personal power it takes to embark on a truly healing journey.
Middle Way Health”s “La Dolce Vita” Community Events:
Middle Way Health also hosts “La Dolce Vita” events, bringing creative people together to sample and discuss what makes up The Sweet Life; to come up with ideas and create a community of like-minded people who want to be happy and make the world a better place.
Click here to subscribe to the “La Dolce Vita” Newsletter.
We all want to live some version of The Sweet Life, and we need others with whom to share the rewards of our efforts. Coming together around a vision causes it to grow and spread, and community is then built up around it. But we”re not just talking about superfluous things. Happy people make the best helpers. It may sound corny, but it”s true.
We all want to be happy, healthy and helpful, right? Often, however, we don”t know exactly how we can help others. Our “La Dolce Vita” gatherings have brought together a variety of people and professions – many of whom don”t normally come together in the same place. For instance, we”re connecting artists, writers and musicians who haven”t previously networked with mental health professionals, politicians and community activists, who in return don”t generally mingle with healers, food industry or fashion professionals.
Bringing different aspects of our community together in this way, we are building bridges, sharing passions, generating ideas and solving problems. Our events also serve as a method for others to share information, with each event presenting and highlighting a different member of the community. This is how we grow ourselves and our businesses, and this is how we make a more significant difference. We hope to see you there!
