MLK Day – Lift Every Voiceat the Crocker Art Museum
Join the Crocker Art Museum for Holiday Monday: MLK Day – Lift Every Voice on Monday, January 16, 2012 from 10:30am-5pm. There is FREE admission.
In the spirit of the historic anthem Lift Every Voice and Sing, the Crocker presents a music-infused celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Enjoy performances by regional choirs, including the Spiritual Life Center Choir. Then join us in the Setzer Foundation Auditorium at 3 PM for a screening of the PBS documentary Not in Our Town: Light in the Darkness, which has sparked a national movement to highlight communities working to stop hate. Susie Wong of the Sacramento Regional Coalition for Tolerance will moderate a post-screening panel discussion with attorney Benjamin Wagner and Patrice O’Neill, the documentary’s executive producer. The panel will explore the issues raised by the film and the connections to the ideals of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The Museum will be open from 10 AM to 5 PM.
