Journalist, scholar and author Miriam Pawel brings her latest book, “The Browns of California: The Family Dynasty that Transformed a State and Shaped a Nation” to the next Sacramento Bee Book Club.

We’ll explore a history that spans four generations – from August Schuckman, the Prussian immigrant who crossed the Plains in 1852 and settled on a northern California ranch, to his great-grandson Jerry Brown, who reclaimed the family homestead 140 years later.

The event will be hosted by Pulitzer Prize-winning Sacramento Bee Editorial Cartoonist, Jack Ohman. The Avid Reader at Broadway Station will sell book copies on site, and Ms. Pawel will host a book signing following the program. For additional information, please contact events@sacbee.com.
