Description
The 2021 event is free and open to the public.
Everyday our community and region is working to achieve the vision of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. For the past 21 years, the MLK Committee in Sacramento has created an event that pays tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. King. We invite you to commemorate, celebrate and be educated at the 22nd anniversary event as we remember the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the tens of thousands of people who have fought and continue to fight for equality across the country.
Like everything else, the 2020 pandemic has changed the way we will be celebrating the MLK Celebration event in January 2021. The MLK Committee has developed a virtual event that will be hosted on Zoom. Included in the event will be the recognition of the 2021 MLK Essay contest winners, entertainment, panel discussion with President Robert Nelsen, President of Sacramento State, Eric Guerra, Councilmember, City of Sacramento and Cassandra Jennings, CEO, Sacramento Urban League.
