Description
Join us for the third movie night in our series featuring three films about immigration. This final film, A Better Life, is about Carlos Galindo, an undocumented Mexican immigrant and veteran Los Angeles day laborer, who has trouble connecting with his son, Luis. Luis’ gang-affiliated girlfriend is tempting him to ignore his father’s example of clean living. Carlos buys a truck to begin working as a self-employed man and earn more money, but when it is stolen, his hopes for a more affluent life are dashed. Unable to turn to the police for help, father and son embark on a quest to find the vehicle.
There is suggested $15 donation with all money raised going toward NorCal Resist. Snacks and drinks provided. Short discussion afterwards.
The location is wheelchair accessible, but it’s a little distance from the parking lot to the FAHS room where the movie will be shown and the wheelchair accessible restrooms are in the next building over. We ask that you refrain from wearing any scents for folks who may be sensitive to them, especially since the room is small. Closed captioning will be turned on for the film. Snacks are often pre-packaged so they may not be allergen free. Feel free to contact us at surjsacramento@gmail.com with any questions or concerns regarding accessibility.
