    11 AM – 3 PM
    FREE for everyone

Join us for a free family festival that showcases the extraordinary talents and cultural contributions of the Latino community. Inspired by Collidoscope: de la Torre Brothers Retro-Perspective, the festival serves as a closing ceremony for the exhibition and a celebration of the community! Enjoy live performances from Mariachi Bonitas, Maya Latin Roots, Sol Peligro, and Lucha Libre Productions, and join in creative art activities inspired by the de la Torre Brothers’ lenticular artworks.

View a community mural in the making, celebrate local artists, and catch a bumping lowrider show from the Sacramento Lowrider Commission. A series of mini-talks and docent-led tours of the exhibition showcase the bi-national and bi-cultural background of the artists, Jamex and Einar de la Torre, two brothers whose work connects to issues and ideas often explored in Border and Chicano art.

Support for Collidoscope’s national tour has been generously provided by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Latino.

New Play Brunch – The Divine Comedy
Join us for brunch, bottomless mimosas and a brand new play reading! The event will run from 11AM-1PM.

THE DIVINE COMEDY by Robert Caisley

In a time when knights, noblemen, and the church rule the land, one young woman dares to dream beyond her station. The Divine Comedy follows Bertie, a witty, rebellious soul in the Dark Ages who wants to be the world’s first stand-up comic, if only there was such a job description, and if only she can persuade her overbearing father that she doesn’t want to inherit the family dung farm, and convince her domestically-inclined sister to stop matchmaking her with every available man in the county.

But when the church starts taking an interest in Bertie’s sinful sense of humor, and a mysterious messenger from God demands she find a higher purpose, Bertie must navigate an hilarious maze of medieval expectations, divine intervention and otherworldly obstacles in search of her true calling.

Will she find the courage to defy tradition and make history, one punchline at a time? Or will she be forced to trade her dreams for the toilet seat of the family business, and the hollow promises of a dullard husband who’d rather laugh at her than with her?

The Divine Comedy is a medieval romp full of ridiculous situations, Monty Python-like characters, and laughs so big, they could wake the dead. At the end of it all, you’ll be convinced Bertie’s funny bone was blessed by God herself.

Doors open 30 minutes prior to showtime. This show is All Ages
