Description
Wednesdays at Winn, presented by Midtown Parks and Sutter Health, is a market and gathering on Wednesdays from late afternoon to early evening at Winn Park, May – September. The market features open air booths offering organic produce, flowers and farmers market grocery items, as well as prepared food and food trucks. The market accepts EBT, enabling CalFresh recipients to buy fresh, healthy, local produce.
Winn Park is located on the corner of P and 28th streets in the Sutter District near the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op. Parking is available in nearby garages, bike parking is available on site (please bring a bike lock), and attendees are invited to take the Sacramento Regional Transit light rail and exit at the 29th street stop. "The City’s Recycling and Solid Waste Division this spring is offering a series of free in-person backyard composting seminars to help residents learn how to turn food scraps into compost right in their own backyard.
Attendees will learn about decomposition at a local community garden and discover how to recycle leaves, yard clippings, fruit, and vegetable scraps. Additionally, they’ll receive a demonstration on using a “Geobin” composter and learn about composting materials.
Tips will be shared on how to achieve the right balance of food, air, and moisture, how to maintain compost piles, and home gardening."

"City staff will be giving away free wood mulch to Sacramento residents on May 4 at the Sacramento Marina (2710 Ramp Way).
There will be a limit of one cubic yard of mulch per customer during the event, which will take place from 8 a.m. to noon or while supplies last.
Attendees can also get free bagged and loose compost, which can improve soil health."
