The teaching artist, Ruth Chase, demonstrates how to engage individuals with the content in their work. Her West of Lincoln Project will be reviewed at the workshop, it covers the following:
Biographical portraiture: the process to create work based on an individual’s life story
Interview process
Using art in service to others
Integrating symbology and storytelling
Responsibilities of sensitive subject matter

This two hour workshop will benefit you in many ways! It will include the following:
Learn how to interview people for the purpose of creating art
Learn how to take your social passion to your art practice
Learn the difference between commissions and biographical portraits
Learn how to use narrative
Gain an understanding of symbolism for storytelling
Develop fresh ideas for expanding your medium
Develop a connection with your subject
Understand how to use your art in service to others
Make connections with like-minded artists
Receive a list of interview tips and questions
